The Department of Mathematics provides advanced courses for student majoring in mathematics and offers instruction appropriate for students of other disciplines. A student who wishes to continue mathematics in graduate school or to seek employment on the basis of a strong mathematics background is advised to take special topics in mathematics including at least one course in computer information systems.
Requirements for the Major:
Majors are expected to complete 40 hours in mathematics and related subjects of which at least 32 hours must be in mathematics and up to 8 hours may be in related subjects. Related subjects may include computer science, physics, physical chemistry, and other subjects agreed upon between the student and the mathematics advisor.
